Guardian Angel

For our penultimate show of the year, we are proud to present Ana Viktoria Dzinic's Guardian Angel. 

During her residency, Ana immersed herself in quintessential Viennese themes: Freud, Imperial Austria, and the aftermath of failure and memory. The video work premiered at the Schinkel Pavillon in August. The film traces the journeys of three central angels navigating the remnants of their pasts while being drawn into an uncertain future, much like Paul Klee’s Angelus Novus. 

The central theme explores how one engages with the emotional landscape of harm, revealing the complex interplay between personal experience and broader socio-historical forces. Blending narrative fiction with theoretical discourse, the work highlights the tensions between individual subjectivity and collective historical narratives—underscoring how two opposing truths can coexist.
